A Little About Me
I’m Sharon Ray, a Memphis artist, mother, and grandmother with a love for color, nature, and the stories woven into the things we treasure.
My creative journey took a little detour before it found its way to art. After a career in accounting and years spent raising my family, I began exploring my creative side by reworking vintage family jewelry and heirlooms into something new. Eventually, I found my way back to embroidery, a childhood hobby I rediscovered while searching for a creative practice to share with women on their own journeys of healing. That rediscovery opened up a whole new world for me!
Today, I combine embroidery, fabric, and thread to create colorful, detailed fiber art inspired by nature and the gardens I remember from my grandmothers. I also love painting bold, colorful acrylic landscapes, florals, and abstracts. If there’s one thing you should know about my work, it’s that I LOVE color—and lots of it!
I’m drawn to the little details, unexpected combinations, and the beauty that can emerge from seemingly ordinary things. My work often reflects the feeling of wandering through a garden, never quite knowing what you’ll discover around the next corner.
My hope is that you’ll find yourself getting lost in my art, too—exploring the colors, following the patterns, and discovering little details you might not notice at first glance. Most of all, I hope my work brings you a little joy and reminds you of the beauty all around us.
